Science & Benefits?
Water filtration plays a crucial role in improving the quality of the water we consume. Reverse osmosis (RO) is one of the most effective methods, removing up to 99% of impurities such as chlorine, heavy metals, fluoride, and bacteria. This results in clean, pure water that tastes better and is safer for consumption. For a more comprehensive solution, whole-home filtration systems with water softeners and pre-filters can address other water quality issues like hard water, sediment, and chlorine, ensuring that all the water in your home is free from contaminants. Water softeners prevent mineral buildup that can damage appliances, while pre-filters help capture larger particles, extending the life of your main filtration system. Research indicates that softened water can also improve skin health and detergent efficiency (source: Water Quality Association). Together, these systems provide a complete solution to ensure both safe drinking water and cleaner, healthier water for everyday use throughout the home.

Home Water Pre-Filters
Protect your water and extend the life of your filtration system with our Home Water Pre-Filters. Ideal for removing larger particulates like sediment and rust, these pre-filters enhance the efficiency of subsequent filtration stages and ensure consistent water quality.
Reverse Osmosis vs Alkaline?
Reverse Osmosis (RO) vs. Alkaline Water: RO filters out up to 99% of contaminants, providing ultra-pure water, but it also removes essential minerals, making the water slightly acidic. Some systems add minerals back through a remineralisation stage. Alkaline water, on the other hand, has a higher pH due to added minerals like calcium and magnesium, which are believed to help balance body acidity and improve hydration. While alkaline water offers health benefits, it doesn't filter out contaminants as effectively as RO. Combining both can provide clean, mineral-enriched water with a healthy pH balance.

What is The Reverse Osmosis Filtration Process?
1. Sediment Filter (Pre-Filter)
- Purpose: Removes large particles like sand, dirt, rust, and silt.
- Why It’s Important: Protects the system by preventing clogging in later stages.
2. Carbon Block Filter (Pre-Filter)
- Purpose: Removes chlorine, chloramines, and organic chemicals that affect taste and odour.
- Why It’s Important: Chlorine can damage the RO membrane, so this filter extends the system’s lifespan.
3. Reverse Osmosis Membrane
- Purpose: The heart of the system, it removes up to 99% of contaminants, including:
- Why It’s Important: This ultra-fine membrane (0.0001 microns) ensures deep purification.
4. Post Carbon Filter (Polishing Filter)
- Purpose: Further improves taste and odor by removing any remaining impurities.
- Why It’s Important: Gives water a clean, fresh taste before it reaches your faucet.
5. Remineralisation Filter (Optional)
- Purpose: Adds back essential minerals like calcium and magnesium to improve taste and pH balance.
- Why It’s Important: RO water can be slightly acidic, and this filter helps restore a healthy mineral balance.
Do Our Products Require Professional Installation?
Countertop and Freestanding Water Filters:
These units are designed for easy, plug-and-play setup and do not require professional installation. You can simply place them where needed and start using them immediately.
In-line Water Filters (Under Sink, etc.):
These filters are generally designed to be user-friendly with plug-and-play features. However, installation may require some technical knowledge, especially if adjustments to your existing plumbing are needed. In such cases, we recommend consulting with or hiring a professional to ensure the system is installed correctly and safely.
Pre and Post Filters:
Depending on the complexity and the structure of your existing water system, these filters might also need professional installation to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Ice Baths:
Our ice baths are designed for straightforward setup. They require a stable concrete pad, deck, or solid foundation to ensure safety and proper operation. No professional installation is required; just set up in the appropriate location and they are ready to use.
How Do I Maintain My Product To Ensure It Operates Efficiently?
Maintaining your Vital One Wellness products is key to ensuring their longevity and performance. Here are specific guidelines for each category:
- Reverse Osmosis Water Filters: To maintain these systems effectively, replace the filters according to the schedule recommended in the product manual—typically once every 6 to 12 months, depending on usage. Also, the reverse osmosis membrane should be replaced every 2 to 3 years. Regularly check the system for any leaks or drops in water pressure and consult the troubleshooting section of your product manual if issues arise.
- Pre Filters: These filters are designed to capture larger particulates and protect finer filters down the line. Check and clean the pre-filters regularly, at least every 2 to 3 months, and replace them if they show signs of wear or decreased performance. This helps extend the life of subsequent filtration stages.
- Water Softeners: Regularly check the salt level in your brine tank, and replenish it as needed. It’s typically recommended to check the salt every month and clean the tank annually to prevent salt bridges and ensure efficient operation. Additionally, occasionally test your water hardness to ensure the softener is functioning correctly.
- Ice Baths Made with Different Woods: To maintain wood-constructed ice baths, clean the interior regularly with mild soap and water, avoiding harsh chemicals that can damage the wood finish. Ensure that the bath is dry between uses to prevent mold and mildew buildup. Treat the wood periodically with a waterproof sealant recommended for your specific type of wood to protect against weathering and water damage.
Self-Maintaining and Cleaning Products: Most of our products are designed with self-maintaining features to minimise upkeep. For products specified as self-cleaning or self-maintaining in the product descriptions, refer to the individual product manuals for specific care instructions, as these features can significantly reduce the frequency of manual maintenance.
For all products, refer to the specific maintenance schedule and procedures outlined in your product manual. This schedule is tailored to the design and requirements of each model to ensure it continues to operate efficiently throughout its lifespan.
If you encounter any maintenance issues or need further guidance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer support team. We are here to help you get the best out of your Vital One Wellness products.

How Often Should I Replace My Filters?
The frequency of filter replacement can vary depending on the type of filter, the volume of water your household uses, and the quality of your water source. Here are general guidelines for each type of filter we offer:
- Reverse Osmosis Water Filters:
Pre-filters and Post-filters: These should generally be replaced every 6 to 12 months to ensure the system continues to remove contaminants effectively.
Reverse Osmosis Membrane: This is the core component of the system and typically needs replacement every 2 to 3 years, depending on your water usage and the presence of hard water minerals that can cause more frequent clogging.
Pre Filters: These are designed to catch large particulates and should be checked every 3 to 6 months. If you notice substantial sediment accumulation or a noticeable drop in water pressure, it’s time for a replacement.
Water Softener Filters: Water softeners primarily use salt in a brine solution to regenerate the softening resin. While the resin itself can last several years, you should check and replenish the salt level monthly and more frequently if your water usage is high or if your water is very hard.
Regularly replacing your water filters according to these schedules ensures that your water treatment systems function effectively, providing you with clean, safe, and great-tasting water. Always refer to the specific user manual for your particular model for detailed maintenance instructions, as some models may have unique requirements.
